There is something about a multiple, about seeing the same image reproduced - doubled, tripled, quadrupled, multiplied! - that inspires a deep breath of satisfaction. Not only is the fascination with the increase of quantity brought into play but also the quality in the similarity of each print to the other. Pulled BC 2/2 satisfies the desire for exactitude of sameness. Reproduction (multiplying) is, after all, a basic concept of life.

Originality is built into the print; first, through the artist's concept; second, through the formation of a physical trace (drawing on the plate, inking the acetate, taking the photograph) and third, through the print-making medium. Pulled BC 2/2 consists of original works for these prints are made through the traditional techniques of silkscreen, intaglio, lithography, etching, woodblock, rubber stamp, colography and drypoint.

Pulled BC 2/2 will also feature 12 Midnite, renowned low brow Vancouverite, and have the full series of his Pop silk screens titled, Gunland, (Headbones Gallery, Vernon, 1998). 12 Midnite will perform from his CD Suicide Ride at the opening reception on August 7 from 4-7 PM.

With a line up of print makers working from Germany ( Bodos Korsig, Nancy Watt), London (Tyler Bright Hilton), New York (Jesse McCloskey, Katia Santibanez), Montreal (Osvaldo Ramirez Castillo), Toronto (Larry Eisenstein, Ortansa Moraru, Dave Sheppard, Daryl Vocat), Saskatchewan (Jefferson Little). Cranbrook (Manwoman) and Salmon Arm (Steve Mennie). The prints are as diverse as their origins. The overall tie-in is excellence. Pulled BC 2/2 is an extended tribute to the printmakers and to their images.

Xeriscaping Workshop August 7 2010 at Vernon Arts Centre - #Vernon BC

See you online,

Join Xeriscape specialist Gwen Steele for an informative presentation on xeriscaping on Saturday August 7 from a0 am to noon. There really is more to this form of gardening than covering your entire yard with gravel – Think of it as gardening WITH nature.

Some of the benefits of this type implementing this type of garden in your Okanagan yard include:

·         Enhancing the real estate value of your home with an attractive and water conserving landscape.

·         Reducing water use- depending on the design and the plants used, water use can be reduced by over 50%.

·         Saving time– less watering, trimming, weeding and mowing.

·         Saving money– less water, chemicals, fertilizer, and replacement of dead plants.

·         Elimination of pesticide/herbicide use– plants growing in their ideal conditions thrive and

·         Protecting your family’s health and that of the environment – including keeping poisonous chemicals out of our water.

Limited Tickets for this event are only $5.00  and available at Briteland (32008 – 28th St. Vernon, BC) and the RDNO office – 9848 Aberdeen Road Coldstream, BC) Following the morning session a free Xerindipity garden tour follows between 1 and 2 pm.
